Webinar Recording: 3D Painting & Roto Secrets in “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”
Alexander Swann studied our Compositing for Production course back in 2010, and since that time he’s gone on to master the art of 3D painting and rotoscoping. Currently working at Framestore, one of London’s top visual effects facilities, Alex has made quite a name for himself in this area, having worked on high-profile projects like War Horse, Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
Being a huge fan of CG, Alex made the decision to enter the world of compositing because he wanted to be involved with creating the bigger picture in a CG shot. Looking to share his professional knowledge and experience, Alex will be delving into how industry standard tools like NUKE, Silhouette and mocha Pro help him in his day-to-day work. Taking Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows as a fine example, Alex will walk you through the processes for getting a shot ready for the final composite. Using a simplified set up, Alex will show how he accomplished each of his tasks to create one of the more memorable scenes from the film; the ‘Waterfall’ sequence.
