The introduction of online gaming platform Steam has further confirmed Valve as a massive player in the industry, such forward thinking projects earning them a reputation as the gaming equivalent to Apple.
You’d expect not to be too surprised then, when we inform you that Valve has been developing a Virtual Reality gaming headset, which was recently reviewed by New York Times writer Nick Wingfield. Check this out...
“Every way I look, the scene shifts, the battle unfolds. I have a crazy contraption strapped to my head: a boxy set of goggles that looks like a 22nd-century version of a View-Master. It immerses me in a virtual world. I whirl one way and see zombies preparing to snack on my flesh. I turn another and wonder what fresh hell awaits.”
A far cry more advanced than anything that’s been developed thus far, I think I speak on behalf of most of the world when I say that I really, really, really want to have a go on a pair of these bad boys.
It would appear though that Valve are not too enthusiastic about being the mass producers of such technology, but more on developing it. Let’s hope that someone up at Valve HQ has a change of heart!
