Valve Show Us How It's Done, Again

Once again, I’m going to have to promote how great a developer Valve is by showing you another presentation that I found on their website. I know I have already showcased some of their expertise in a post a couple of days ago but I think this presentation is equally as impressive as the last one.

If, like me, you enjoy texturing and look development with a sprinkling of zombies thrown in for good measure then you’ll appreciate it. It’s another step by step guide, this time displaying what Valve did in order to get the right look for the zombies in their game, Left 4 Dead 2. You can see what went right, what went wrong and what they had learnt from previous experiences.

Every process is covered, from analysis and prototypes to gradient mapping and initial results, moving onto texturing and wounds once the previous were established. Along with detail of what Valve did, the presentation also includes images of past and present prototypes, allowing you to see how they got to their final decision. It’s definitely worth taking a look, enjoy!
