Given this year’s economic climate, you may have found yourself sewing up a pesky hole in your jeans rather than buying a new pair, or whacking another jumper on in lieu of the central heating.
Yes resourcefulness has very much been the flavour of 2012, but have you ever considered using your recyclables to fuel your musical hobby?
You haven’t? Well if you’ve ever found yourself merely pondering such an activity, check out this trailer for a film about a Paraguayan village that sits on top of a land fill, they have formed an entire orchestra from instruments that are made out of reclaimed junk!
Don’t be fooled by the shabby appearance of their Violins, Cellos and Flutes though, they sound excellent, “The world sends us garbage, we send back music” is the touching sentiment the orchestra shares, and to match their adaptable attitude and fantastic musical skills, they have an excellent name ‘The Landfill-harmonic Orchestra’.
Keep your eyes peeled for the release of the full length feature film in 2013.
