It was interesting for me to be greeted by a familiar voice whilst getting a little piece of home form BBC Radio 4.
Alex Hope, who is the MD of the UK's leading film VFX company Double Negative was being interviewed about school curriculum in regards to ICT.
There is a general lack of teaching the core principles of computing in today's curriculum, which affects the UK's ability to be competitive in the global marketplace. It was very interesting to hear Alex's opinions and there is clearly a job to be done early on in a child's education to inspire interest in everything computing, rather than the button pushing revolution that products like the iPhone and iPad have brought into being.
I'm not sure what would be the best catalyst for change, but I would be delighted to hear your opinion.

Great stuff !
A timely and interesting critique on what needs to be done in schools and universities to get inquisitive focus back into computing if we are are (as educators) to inspire and empower students to create rather than consume.
