Our first set of students just hit the mid-way mark of their courses so we decided it was high time we subjected them to a long-standing Escape Studios tradition, that consists of capturing their photos before they start pulling their hair out coming to grips with the more complicated side of the VFX pipeline.
It's common practice at Escape Studios to log all the students and staff that come through our doors in the form of an Escape Studios mug shot (refer to this past blog to see what we mean). Yes, it really looks like a mug shot, complete with a measuring stick of sorts to show their height and a board held in front of their bodies with their name and an official escapee number. We are truly merciless!
We do tell escapees that there's no format, and that they are free to do whatever they want in their escapee picture, but surprisingly most people go straight down the line with a smile and the “guilty party” stand still approach.
However, our resident compositing instructor, Rick Makoul, took it on himself to break the mold and have a bit of fun. You can see what we mean in the shots provided here.
Congrats to our new escapees. Making it half-way through our courses is a major milestone.
