Finland native, Miska Janhunen had been working for his family’s visual design firm as a Webmaster for some time, but he harboured a dream of working in VFX. For years he has been trying to find time and flexibility to study CG. “Because of my location and current situation in life, it felt more or less ‘mission impossible’. Then, in the autumn of 2010, I found Escape Studios’ Online Mentored VFX course and all the pieces fell into place.”
Miska is scheduled to complete his course with Escape Studios in November. Since starting his studies with us, he has been able to continue working while taking the course. “The best part is that it hasn’t even felt like working or studying as time just flies by with all the awesome stuff we learn on weekly basis.”
When asked how his experience had been like with his online training with Escape Studios, Miska enthusiastically responded: “I've absolutely loved every moment and I've got great friends from the class whom I keep in touch with weekly and share ideas and thoughts about weekly assignments. One thing that has exceeded every expectation are our mentors, especially "Maya Wizard" Mr. Lee Danskin. I can't emphasise enough the impact he has had on me!”
While focusing on his coursework and a career path in CG, Miska was looking forward to eventually landing a job in VFX. That wish came true sooner than expected when he recently landed a junior VFX artist position with Generator Post - a post-production division of BAR located in Helsinki. Well done Miska!
