Mike O'Neal
Mike O'Neal is currently with Rhythm & Hues Studios in Los Angeles, California where he serves as both Digital and Visual Effects Supervisor and is involved in several R&D activities. His recent work includes Yogi Bear, The Golden Compass, Happy Feet, Superman Returns, X-Men II, and Alvin and the Chipmunks 3.
Previous to Rhythm and Hues, Mike worked at Asylum Visual Effects and Digital Domain. Before that, he worked at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA as a Mechanical Systems Engineer. He also is founder and director of Rock’s Eye Productions. Mike holds both a B.S. and a M.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Stanford University. He has also taken courses in the UCLA Certificate Program in Film, Television and Video.
In his spare time, Mike likes to compose and perform music, perform improv comedy and enjoys backpacking and skiing. He has written halftime shows for the infamous Stanford Marching Band, completed a handful of screenplays and served as technical editor for Creating 3D Effects for Film, TV, and Games by David Santiago.
