London VFX Houses Create Wizardry

It was great to see a write up in Variety about the big four post houses in the UK for more than one reason.

Firstly, after years of hard work putting in new pipelines and attracting the best people, this industry can now prove itself on an international stage and demonstrate that the UK is a front runner for film VFX - up there with the best around the world. It's not by chance of course, all of these companies deserve their place on the worldwide VFX stage. So congratulations to all of them. It was great to see Paul Franklin on day-time TV with his Oscar, telling the world that the visual effects for Inception were done in the UK.

The big four mentioned are MPC, DNeg, Framestore and Cinesite.

So, not only are they up there with the big boys, these four companies actually collaborated on Potter - it's great to see that in the confines of the square mile of Soho the UK can deliver top quality VFX for the major films in our screens today.

As a side note, it was also really great to see tweets by all the post-houses congratulating DNeg on their Oscar. I feel a group hug coming on! Long may it continue.
