I’ve just gotten back to school and a lot of people are asking me about the CG Whiz competition. They want to know if I’m excited about going to LA to study with Escape Studios and when I’ll start at The Mill.
I am excited and a bit overwhelmed! The more I look at what the VFX course entails, the more eager I am. I’m looking forward to learning new 3D programs that I haven’t used before. And, delving more deeply into them. I’m hoping that this will give me a much broader knowledge of VisFx. I’m also really thrilled about the instructors who I will be learning from. They are all incredibly qualified and will be invaluable as mentors to me!
I was meeting with one of my professors the other day and we were discussing RenderMan and compiling shaders. He suggested I use some of his favorite online resources. Next thing, he opened up the Escape Studios Twiki as a reference and recommended it as a great source for learning more about RenderMan. That made me really excited. I know this opportunity will provide me with a lot of real world experience and industry connections but Escape Studios will also be a great resource for me in the future too. It felt good to know that a lot of professionals out there are referring to Escape Studios to stay up to date with their skills.
I’ll be writing posts over time once the course starts and will keep you posted on my experience. Stay tuned to the blog site. I’m sure I’ll have lots to share.
