Getting a taste for VFX

After a busy day on reception yesterday with the Academy Tour I was certainly looking forward to a more tranquil start to my morning…

Not that I’m complaining about welcoming a host of potential Escapees to our Studios, I am a ‘people person’ after all so I always relish the prospect of meeting new faces, but at least I had time to breath today!

My peace and quiet was short lived, however, as one of our VFX tutors, Gideon Corby, decided that the break out space would be a perfect place to show his students how to take stills for their Maya Core projects.

They were very respectful and kept the noise to a minimum but, to be honest, I really didn’t mind as it gave me a chance to learn a little bit more about what these guys are being taught in class. Today they were creating back plates and taking information to help with the lighting, it turned out to be a great opportunity for me to see where their modelling process starts. I’m now very much looking forward to viewing the finished products!

In fact, it got me so intrigued that I’ve signed up for one of our Taster Days. Who knows, maybe there’s a budding VFX professional inside of me just waiting to be set free!
