Disney’s Tron Legacy is due out on December 17th, and I have no doubt that many of you will be eagerly waiting for that date.
I’ll easily admit that I wasn’t a fan of the original movie, but I cannot deny the fact that it is a cult film and a real milestone in terms of visual effects. What I find most striking about the original Tron movie are its iconic images – the LightCycle being the most obvious one. They have stood the test of time and remain ultra cool symbols.
A couple of days ago, I noticed a story in the Hollywood Reporter that is sure to interest many Tron fans. Disney have been sharing images of the costumes used in their upcoming film. You can take a peak at them here.
I guess they are pretty faithful to the original ones, and instantly recognisable as Tron costumes. What I wasn’t so keen on were the many merchandising items that Disney have produced to coincide with the release of the film. They range from trainers to sunglasses to snowboards - still, I guess they’ll be on many people’s Christmas list. Not sure they are going to have the same enduring cool image though…
I am interested to know how many of you out there actually got involved in VFX and 3D because of Tron. Let me know, I'd love to hear your stories.
