I wanted to share this fantastic image, which shows the men’s 100m Olympic Final in stunning detail.
Photographer Henry Stuart has published a gigapixel image of the moment Usain Bolt crossed the line at the London 2012 Olympic Final.
A gigapixel image is an image comprised of a billion pixels that can capture a moment in stunning detail. Because the technology to fit a billion pixels on to a single digital imaging sensor isn't available yet, these images are usually made by capturing hundreds of images and then “stitching” them together to make one huge image, which you are then able to pan and zoom in on, whilst retaining excellent detail.
Definitely worth a look... even if just to see another epic victory by the fastest man on the planet!
