Evil Dead Exclusive @ NYCC 2012

Evil Dead Exclusive @ NYCC 2012

For those of you who didn’t know, New York Comic Con happened last week, and as promised, the largest celebration of pop culture on the east coast of America, brought awesome exclusives by the bucket load.

One of my personal favourites was this glimpse of a remake that has been the subject of much controversy over the last 18 months… the second coming of 1981 zombie cult classic ‘Evil Dead’.

Enthusiastically unveiled by the film’s original star ‘Bruce Campbell’, the image (above) shows a character who more resembles Regan Macneill (the Exorcist) than your classic Sam Raimi zombie.

From the panel discussion about the April release at NYCC, I think it’s safe to say we can expect something very different from the eighties original, and regardless of aesthetic changes to the undead, one thing is for sure, come the release in April 2013, cinema audiences will be shouting the same thing as they were 31 years ago – Don’t go into the cellar!
