I’ll probably get in to trouble if I say that EVERY young girl dreamed of having their very own Prince Charming slip on the glass slipper and whisk her away from a life of boredom, ill-treatment and endless cleaning, but it would be fair to say that quite a few girls grew up getting lost in this particular fantasy, and it would appear that Emma Watson is one of them!
Already the envy of many for managing to pull the hunky Rupert Grint as Hermione Grainger in the Harry Potter series, Emma has yet to be given a co-star, but with Cate Blanchett confirmed to play the wicked stepmother and Kenneth Branagh directing, it’s set to be a star-studded cast. Personally I think that casting Daniel Radcliffe as the Prince and Grint as Buttons would be perfect but I don’t think I’ll have the backing of any Potter fans out there on that one!
It would seem that Watson wasn’t Disney’s first choice when it came to deciding who would fly the fairy tale flag for the studio; it also considered Gabriella Wilde (“The Three Musketeers”), Saoirse Ronan and Alicia Vikander (“Anna Karenina”), but busy schedules prevented them from locking any deals. Disney refused to comment on its discussions with Watson but they hope to begin production sometime this autumn for a release in 2014.
