“With a full time job and family, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to have a career in VFX. Finding the time to do training was really tough so I needed something that would fit around my work and family time. I spent a long time checking out different courses online – I knew lots about different bits of visual effects but wanted to learn more – build up my understanding in one area that I could use to get a job.

Like anyone who wants to learn online, you don’t want to miss out on getting taught by experts or feedback from others doing the course. Doing Escape’s mentored course meant I could learn at my own pace, but I didn’t miss out on the mentoring part. That was really important to me.

My tutors (Dan Shutt and Lee Danskin) gave me great advice and I got to fire questions at other people doing the course – all this helped massively.”
