Our UK team recently released a story about one of our compositing escapees - Carlos Conceicao - landing an internship at The Foundry. This got me thinking about the actual spectrum of jobs that are available to people who study with us. There is an expectation that the majority will go on to work for companies in the VFX, Animation or TV industry. And yet Carlos has just demonstrated that you can actually go on to work in the software industry, for companies who develop the tools that are used in the media and entertainment sector. They are many such companies. Most of you will have heard of the largest ones like Autodesk, but there is a plethora of other companies and a constant flow of new comers too. This
As for Carlos, he followed the Compositing Professional 18-Week course that we run in our London campus, and will soon be found working as an intern Paint Artist on MARI at The Foundry. Carlos is granting himself a quick, well-deserved break to get ready for the new role right now but was still willing to upload his showreel (a work in progress, he says) so we can all take a look at what he learned in the course.
MARI was recently added to the Compositing Professional course and is clearly providing benefits to students who’ve taken it. The Compositing Professional course also covers 3D workflow with Maya, an intro to stereo compositing and much more.
If you dream of becoming a compositor, why not pop-in to see us in Santa Monica? Our first compositing course will be starting on November 7, 2011 and we are running daily tours of our campus. If you want to come along, why not drop me a line?
