Calling all aspiring artists and CG wannabes! Here’s your opportunity to build your dream career. Today we launched CG Whiz 2010 our annual search for the hottest amateur computer graphics talent. We’re offering over $24,000 worth of prizes for the winners, thanks to our co-sponsors, The Mill, CG Society and 3D Artist.
The top prize is a fantastic 12-week visual effects (VFX) course, either at our studios in Los Angeles or London, followed by a four-week placement at The Mill – again either in London, L.A. or New York. Twelve runners up will get a selection of mentored and online courses and magazine subscriptions courtesy of sponsor 3D Artist. They’re not just great prizes but could also open doors to a career in CG. In fact, last year’s winner Adam Droy was taken on full-time by The Mill shortly after finishing his placement.
Entry is really simple – all you need to do is submit a demo reel or set of stills compiled into a video. Make sure you label your entry clearly with your name and title of your work and then send it in to us via YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook or Twitter (it’s up to you which one strikes your fancy). Either:
- Add your entry as a response to our CG Whiz competition video on YouTube
- Or upload your entry to the wall of our Facebook page
- Or add your video to the CG Whiz 2010 group on Vimeo
- Or finally send a link to your entry via Twitter to @escape_studios, using the hashtag #CGWhiz
Last but not least, to complete your entry you need to send us your contact details including name, the title of your work, email address and telephone number to: CGWhiz@escapestudios.com
Last year, the quality of entries we received was a testament to the hidden talent that exists in CG. We see it as our job to help anyone with a creative streak and a passion for computer graphics develop their skills and get them started with successful CG careers. You can find out more by checking our competition home page and you’ve got until November 12th to get your demo reel ready and submitted.
Good luck!
