An enthusiastic group arrived at the Escape Studios in Santa Monica the morning of February 4th to hear industry veteran Pam Hogarth talk about what it takes to succeed as an artist in the VFX industry. Always entertaining and informative, Pam gave the audience solid, practical advice that they can use as they pursue their careers in VFX.
Rather than give the attendees a general list of “Dos” and “Don’ts”, she made her presentation even more interesting by providing a case study based on a 3D artist she currently works with, Josh Mossotti. She went into detail about his background and skills and what has made him so successful in his career thus far. She then shared the ins and outs of a project that Josh was recently involved in, the obstacles he faced and how he was able to overcome them. She ended by telling the group the characteristics they would need to enter and excel in the field. Problem solving is high on the list!
Following her talk, Escape’s own Joe Kelly and Susan Thurmond O’Neal spoke to the group about Escape Studios, the curriculum and the After Care program.
It was a fun way to spend a morning and we look forward to hosting the next event!
