Maya just got Muscles for the New Year

While the rest of us may have given ourselves in to the usual festive excesses, it looks like the boys at Autodesk have been busy with a new little something for 2008.

Getting its workout is Maya 2008 Extension 1: Maya Muscle which delivers comprehensive cMuscleskin and muscle technology courtesy of Autodesk.

Available exclusively to subscription members, this extension to Autodesk Maya 2008 gives artists the tools to precisely direct muscle and skin behaviour in order to create the kind of life-like skin motion which audiences have come to expect.

Of course, being a Maya product the attention to detail is astounding. Artists can work on Muscle Deformation for flexing limbs, Custom Weight Painting for wrinkles and folds, Muscle on Muscle/Skin and Muscle Sculpting for extreme realism of movement, and Jiggle Functionality to show secondary motion (That's jelly wobble to you and me!).

Coupled with all the other features that Maya devotees have come to love, Autodesk Maya 2008 Extension 1 should be top of every artists's list of New Years' resolutions.
