Autodesk® has announced the release the next generation of Maya® 8.5 software with key new features.
This updated version gives artists enhanced creative control, enabling faster completion of complex animation and simulation tasks, achieved through a new, innovative next-generation Maya Nucleus unified simulation framework. The first module within this new framework is nCloth with which artists can quickly direct and control a range of simulations, including cloth, plastic, metal and other materials.
A unique air-pressure model enables artists to use any geometry to create an inflatable object with internal and external pressure.
Python integration further extends this creative control, giving script writers the ability to efficiently manipulate, customize and automate the software for use in next-generation pipelines and industry-leading productions.
Maya 8.5 is also optimized for Intel-based Macintosh computers.
Escape Studios' Business Development Director Mark Cass said, "Building on the strength of the Maya architecture, Python scripting and the new dynamics framework make this truly one of the most significant Maya releases ever."
