Supernatural prize winner announced at The Tate Modern

This last September and October, Supernatural Studios presented a series of lectures at Tate Modern entitled ‘Digital Art – A New Renaissance’. Of course, with a name like that Escape Studios had to be a key sponsor.

As part of Supernatural’s continuing drive to open the possibilites of digital art to a wider audience, and with the amazing support of it's sponsors, Autodesk, Escape Studios and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), they were able to offer an extrordinary prize draw.

Open to all attendees of the lectures, the prize consisted of a full license of Autodesk’s latest and greatest 3D software package, Maya 8.5, a training course of their choice at Escape Studios, and then, having got to grips with the workflow and effects pipeline, the opportunity to work with Supernatural on a digital arts project using some of the latest computer hardware provided by AMD.

Last week, winner Ryan Pilcher, a Southampton Art School graduate, was presented with the latest version of Autodesk’s award winning 3D animation package, Maya at Tate Modern.

“Wow, what a great start to the year and still more to come!” explained Ryan “I am so exited to have won this competition. It really is an amazing prize. I’m nine weeks into my training at Escape Studios and can’t believe how much I have learnt in that short amount of time.

"Learning Maya seemed a bit daunting at first but I have quickly become confident with it. It’s so intuitive and I can see the amazing possibilities it opens up to the artist.

"Next on the agenda is my work placement at Supernatural, so can’t wait for that to start, so many Thanks to Supernatural, Autodesk, Escape and the Tate Modern for putting on a competition like this, it really is great.”

If you’d like any more information on Maya, or any other course, then please feel free to contact Jason our Training Manager.
