Mark Pascoe, Rushes

Had you always wanted a career in this industry?

I only realised half way through university when a friend introduced me to Maya. I was doing a Sport and Exercise Science degree and I found that there wasn't a job in that field that I wanted to work towards.

How did you find out about Escape, and what was it like?

I found Escape on Google and thought it was great and exactly the step up I was looking for. Being in a class full of like-minded people with the same attitude and drive made for a great atmosphere and made it a lot easier to progress.

What happened after the course?

I was fortunate enough to get asked to come back and work at Escape as a Studio Assistant and then got onto a new VFX Production Grade course. This was a course like no other and a great insight into what the industry would be like. For my placement I went to Rushes Post-Production which is where I still am.

What are you doing now?

I'm currently working on a landmark series in High Def for America, which involves some massively complex rigging of body models. It's in the pre-production stage so I'm not able to say very much - but watch this space!

What advice would you give to any prospective students?

I owe where I am now solely to Escape. Sure it is a big decision but it’s something that I don’t regret in the slightest. If you're reading this, you must be considering doing a course at Escape, so the best advice I can give is to book an appointment and go see the place first hand, or do a Learning Day.
