What made you decide to do the course at Escape Studios?
I chose Escape because I wanted move onto a higher end package and make sure my self taught knowledge was up to scratch.
What was the best thing about your course?
The best thing about the course was the tutor; a great learning experience, which enabled me to fully understand the fundamentals of 2D image manipulation. This has been transferable to almost all gfx packages that I use.
What advice would you give to any prospective students at Escape?
My advice for any prospective Escapee would be to make sure your traditional artistry skills are well up to scratch and you have a clear objective of why you want to learn these new tools.
What are you up to now?
Currently I am an independent VFX Supervisor for Film, TV and digital, recently completing E4's Dead Set.
What was the learning environment like?
The learning environment was very social. I took the course when escape was based near Portobello Road. It was a great atmosphere.
What was your tutor like?
Our tutor was excellent. Mark has a gift to teaching. He was able to explain complex subjects in a very simple way. He has an un-usual blend of very good technical skill, creativity and a great personality; usually people only have one of these qualities!
How much help was there during the course?
The help was good throughout the course. We had plenty of hand outs, great practical sessions and loads of extra material i.e. DVD extras to watch.
