Escape Philosophy

In 2002, Dominic Davenport was an artist working as a designer for a leading UK studio when he got a taste for 3D animation and wanted to take what he’d learned to the next level. He knew 3D was the future. And he was right – when Dominic searched for somewhere to obtain these new skills, he found that the kind of professional-standard creative computer graphics training he was looking for just didn’t exist yet, so he decided to create it. He called his new project Escape Studios.

His vision for Escape Studios was to fill the gap between what universities were teaching students and what industry required from graduates. While our vision is now much broader, that simple core aim – to ready computer graphics artists for careers in industry remains. Dominic owns and directs the company to this day and his pioneering creative spirit continues to define everything we do.

Escape is now Europe’s premier CG trainer and flag bearer for the entire industry. Our philosophy is to represent, advocate and facilitate uncompromising excellence in all aspects of computer graphics, creative and commercial. Initiatives such as the Escape Awards – an increasingly high profile celebration of CG talent – represent a new phase in Escape’s development from training institution to authority on computer graphics.
