Destination; Escape Studios

After working for 7 years as a DVD Technology Developer and Producer I felt it was time to make a change in my life and chase an idea which had been in the back of my head for sometime, to work on blockbuster movies. After many international phone calls and many, many hours of reseach I decided to leave a very well paid job back in Australia and booked a plane ticket to London, Destination; Escape Studios.

I finished my DVD position on September 6th 2007, was on a plane September 7th arriving in London September 9th and present for the 10am start of the first day of the Compositing course on September 10th.

The 3 month Compositing course at Escape Studios was fantastic and I would not have the oppurtunities I have now without the training I received during that time. The people are friendly, there is always someone to help and answer questions and come 6pm on a Friday night...well you will just have to find out.

I have been an Escapee now for 7 months and during that time I have worked on two big name movies and quite a few music videos and TVC's. I have also teamed up with a small group of Escapees who have different skills but share the same love for visual effects, and together we work on personal side projects, starting with an idea and HD cam, and ending up with a great VFX shot.

I am not expecting to be a TD or a Colourist tomorrow, but I will be one day and Escape has given me a head start on that path.
