Get ready for bone crushing monsters in mind blowing HD slow motion next week, as on August 12th, the Discovery Channel (US) is set to broadcast the 25th season of ‘Shark Week’. The resounding success of this series speaking for itself as it celebrates its quarter century anniversary.
Viewers should brace themselves for 555 frames per second cameras filming 200 razor sharp teeth per bite.
Ever improving technology has kept ‘Shark Week’ alive and the images on our screens have become more and more incredible over the years. And this can be seen to the point where a one second breach (that’s a lunge out of the water to you and I) of a great white shark will become a minute of slow motion footage, when filmed by the hi tech Phantom HD cameras the crew are equipped with.
‘Shark Week’ now has a loyal, almost cult following of shark lovers that span all ages and backgrounds. One week a year they unite to tune in to their favourite sea beasts from 9pm every weeknight.
The trailer for this series is quite extraordinary, and uses some state of the art Visual Effects from digital design and effects studio Ring of Fire, renowned for their work on Nike, Adidas and Intel commercials.
You can check out the teaser above; I think it’s fair to say we’ve come a long way since the days of Jaws!
