CG Whiz is Nearly Here!

I wonder how many of you noticed the clues we have been leaving on our Twitter feed about the next edition of our talent discovery competition, CG Whiz. Well, the very exciting news is that it is most definately going to be even bigger and better in 2011!

I'll have more details to share very soon, but for now here’s a quick update on what we’ve been working on.

New sponsors, more prizes!
For CG Whiz 2011, we have a whole new, fresh bunch of sponsors on board, which not only means we have the support of even more industry leaders, we also have a ton more prizes to offer our winners. We can’t say much more just yet, but we can tell you one of CG’s largest software vendors has joined the cause...

The Mill is back
For the third year in a row, The Mill will be partnering with us for CG Whiz, playing an active part in judging the competition and picking the winners. The studio will offer one lucky winner the chance to learn from some of the world’s best CG talent with an amazing 12-week work placement as a top prize for the best showreel.

We listened and changed things up
Finally, we want to thank everyone for their feedback and suggestions on how to make CG Whiz even more spectacular this year. We’ve been paying close attention and want you to know there are some important changes being made this year to open the competition up to even more CG fanatics. In 2011, we will not only be accepting entries from amateurs, but from young professionals with up to three years experience - this means we have an entirely new category for entries and a whole new set of prizes for the winner.

Stay tuned for more details next week, but for now I'll leave you with some inspiration; last year’s winner Stu Schwartz’ entry.

Don't forget to keep an eye on this blog for more information, or use the #CGWHIZ hashtag on Twitter for the latest news about CG Whiz 2011. Stay tuned...
