Those of you who follow us on Twitter will probably have noticed that we are soon to launch the third edition of our now famous CG Whiz competition. So, since the 'cat's out of the bag' already, I thought I might just get away with giving you a bit of an insight in what we have been cooking up for this year's edition of CG Whiz.
Well, the first thing to note is that we have a whole set of new sponsors on board, which not only means that we have the support of even more organisations in the industry, it also means that we have a lot more prizes on offer... I can't quite reveal who they are yet, but what I can say is that they include the industry's largest software vendor.
For the third year in a row, The Mill will be partnering with us to bring CG Whiz to you. Not only will they be playing an active part in judging the competition and picking the winners, they are also offering an amazing 12-week work placement as one of the top prizes of the competition. This will give the lucky recipient the chance to learn from some of the best people in the industry and kickstart his or her career in VFX.
Finally, I wanted to let you all know that we have been paying attention to all your feedback and have made some key changes that will allow even more people to enter the competition. So, we will not only take entries from amateurs but young professionals with up to 3 years experience will also get a chance to take part and win some of the incredible prizes on offer.
I'll have more details for you next week, but for now I'll leave you with some inspiration: last year’s winner Stu Schwartz’ entry. Don't forget to keep an eye on this blog for more information, or use the #CGWHIZ hashtag on Twitter for the latest news about CG Whiz 2011.
