CG Whiz competition reaches the half-way mark.

We’ve just blown the half time whistle on the CG Whiz competition and thought it might be time for a team talk; a chance to touch base with everyone and let you know how it’s all going.

Firstly, we just want to thank everyone who has submitted their show reels so far. Entries are coming thick and fast and to think that we’re only halfway through makes us even more excited about what else we’re going to see over the coming weeks.

Here at The Mill we’re proud to be involved with CG Whiz. For us it’s a great way to check out the latest CG talent and offer up and coming artists a real once in a lifetime opportunity. We’ve worked on some of the most memorable Visual Effects projects in the world but to be able to maintain our high standards in the future, we’ll always need new talent. That’s why we’re delighted to offer a four week placement at either our London or LA studios as first prize. If that’s not enough to wet your appetite, you can also win over £15,000 worth of Escape Studios' training.

To enter CG Whiz 2010, all you need to do is submit a show reel or set of stills compiled into a video. Make sure that you clearly label your entry with your name and title of your work, and then complete the following two steps.

Step 1: Upload your entry to any one of Escape Studios’ social media channels.  This can be done by:

  • Adding your entry as a response to our CG Whiz competition video on YouTube
  • Or uploading your entry to the wall of our Facebook page
  • Or adding your video to the CG Whiz 2010 group on Vimeo
  • Or even sending a link to your entry via Twitter to @escape_studios, using the hashtag #CGWhiz

Step 2: Send your contact details including name, the title of your work, email address and telephone number to

So if you’ve got a passion for computer graphics and ambitions to break into the world of visual effects, this could be the lucky break you’ve been waiting for. The closing date for the competition is 12th November 2010 and winners will be announced in early December. Good luck!
