We’re excited to announce our talent discovery competition, CG Whiz, kicks off today for its third year in a row! CG Whiz helps ignite the careers of computer graphics and visual effects fanatics from across the world.
This time around, we’ve got more prizes to give away and a whole new category for entrants.
What you need to know:
- CG Whiz opens today, October 12, 2011, and closes November 12, 2011.
- More than $30,000 in prizes, including a 12-week placement at The Mill in LA or London and a 12 week VFX classroom course at Escape Studios
- New ‘Young Professionals’ category, in addition to our ‘Amateurs’ category
- New Facebook-voted Users Choice awards for the showreel entries in both categories that gets the most ‘Likes’ on Escape Studios’ Facebook page.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime career-changing opportunity for talented young artists - including, for the first time, a young professional with up to three years experience working in the entertainment industry.
To help launch the competition, Stephen Venning, 3D executive producer at The Mill, and Dominic Davenport, founder an CEO of Escape Studios sat down to talk about this year’s prizes and what type of entries they’re expecting to see:
The judging panel includes Escape Studios CEO Dominic Davenport, Training Development Director Lee Danskin, and a select group of industry pros from The Mill, Autodesk, HP, 3D Artist, Digital Artist and CGSociety.
The competition is being held entirely on Facebook, where CG Whiz participants can upload their showreel entries, as well as watch and vote on entries from all over the world.
