With Jurassic Park 4 in the foreseeable distance, it’s often worth taking a moment to remember how epic Jurassic Park was, upon its release in 1993.

GMUNK: Get Creative to Progress Your Career in VFX
It's very easy to lose creative motivation and it's something every artist will experience at some stage in their career. We all got into Visual Effects to work in a creative career, so why stop living the dream? To remain on the cutting edge of creativity, sometimes you need to take yourself out of your comfort zone and remind yourself of the things in VFX that speak to you the loudest - because ultimately that’s what will drive your best work.
Spartacus: War of the Damned has been brought to life by some serious green screen action!
If like me you’ve been eagerly anticipating every weekend for the time when you can stream the latest episode of Spartacus: War of the Damned, you’ll know that this weekend was the penultimate episode of arguably the most fantastically gory series ever to hit television screens.
TMNT starts filming!
I can still remember being five years old and fashioning two back pack holsters for my toy swords, out of plastic drinks bottles in homage to Leonardo, my favourite member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles troupe.
Looking forward to Pacific Rim?
So you may remember that we blogged about Guillermo Del Toro’s latest cinematic venture ‘Pacific Rim’, for those who didn’t – it looks insane, An alien attack combatted by ginormous robots piloted by humans is the scenario! (Here’s the trailer)
Jurassic Park 4 favours continuity over science!
Are you familiar with the phrase ‘never let the truth get in the way of a good story’? Well it seems the Jurassic Park universe is adhering to this rule for its 4th instalment.
I find your lack of faith disturbing...
Everybody stay calm. It appears people all over the globe are beginning to harness the dark side of the force, and they’re not thinking twice about dishing out the pain… oh no wait, it’s just another ridiculous internet craze.
I feel like a right Planck in this Lycra!
Thanks to the Max Planck institute for Informatics, actors may be spared the embarrassment of wearing the ever so flattering lycra body suits when it comes to shooting scenes laden with VFX.
Prometheus 2 - Have you got what it takes?
Damon Lindelof was the genius behind the script for 2012’s VFX emblazoned Prometheus, but it was unveiled earlier this year that he will not be returning to write the script for the sequel.
Aw, Here it goes!
Nickelodeon has come a long way from the days of Kenan and Kel, Saved by the Bell, Rocket Power, Doug, and Hey Arnold! (just a handful of my personal favourites) and it’s fair to say that considering this most recent announcement, the level of broadcast on kids television is becoming ever more sophisticated.
The Uncanny Valley is close!
Readers of our blog out there will remember a piece we posted a few weeks back about the concept of ‘the uncanny valley’, and I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s pretty darn weird in action!
When the pencil is mightier than the pixel - Quietly questioning 'the Croods' production choices...
I haven't yet seen the Croods, but my four year old's pester power means a trip to the cinema is inevitable this Easter. When I saw the first trailer a number of months ago, however I was left a little cold and felt little compulsion to make the effort to see it. It seemed rather predictable, not particularly lovable characters and no real 'hooks' to grab me. I did change my mind completely a few weeks later when Chris Sanders started releasing his story boards for the Croods. They are nothing short of stunning.
Davi Stein meets Davy Jones!
This morning, Escape Relationship Manager Anita Gribble and Head of 2D Davi Stein, took students on a trip to the heart of the West End – to see the newly opened Double Negative facility in Great Portland Street, which opened just 3 months ago! As is always the case with our studio visits, everyone set off early with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a hunger for adventure.
'The Croods' clubs the weekend box office!
After last week’s mention of 'Despicable Me 2' arriving soon to hit cinema screens, it’s fair to say that animation is very much in the public eye at the moment, and the trend continued this weekend as animated movie ‘the Croods’ has dominated the box office.
Project Green Screen!
Most film lovers out there will be well vested in the work of legendary director and writer, Robert Rodriguez, and especially if you’re a fan of the grindhouse double bill, then it’s fair to assume that you are probably an owner of at least one Rodriguez DVD.
Check out this Stash!
A great mash up of some amazing VFX, motion and animation work collated by the guys at Stash. Titled ‘Stash 98: Another 100 minutes of motion brilliance’ this one and a half minutes of footage is a showcase collaboration of clips that are tantalising for the eyes.
