Congrats to all our Escapees who helped make ‘Man of Steel’ possible

By now, we’re guessing, many of you VFX fans out there will have seen Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel. If you haven’t, we’re sure you have a valid excuse. And for those of you who have, you may have noticed the epic credits list for the VFX department in particular. As we respectfully stay at the end of the movie to watch the credits roll, we’re always proud to spot names we recognise among the list – the names of our graduates.

London Film & Comic Con - what's it all about?

We got to Earls Court at around 9am on Saturday morning and paid £12 for entry (this was strictly an admission fee, no photo or autograph opportunities/food or drinks included!) and by 11am the queue was truly immense, given that it was blisteringly hot outside, the early birds definitely got the worm!

NEW Webinar: The Role Of A Compositor With Davi Stein

NEW Webinar: The Role Of A Compositor With Davi Stein

When it comes to VFX, Compositors are the masters of make-believe. They're the magicians who create the illusion of reality in every CG shot. They can look at a shot and tell you exactly what's wrong with it and the best way to correct it. In essence, they are true artists with an eye for beauty and their devotion to it means we get to watch something stunning every time.

Happy Friday everyone! Here’s a real interesting music video by Electro artist Yuksek, for his song "Off The Wall",

It's sure to get your toes tapping and your brain wondering at the video which is jam packed full of hand manipulated props, instruments and body parts that are brought together and combined with a mirror image.

Small Soldiers - How was it done?

Small Soldiers - How was it done?

Small Soldiers was, no sorry –IS, in my book anyway - an awesome film, sure I may think that way because I’ve adorned it in a proverbial cloak of nostalgia, but regardless, I am part of a generation that found itself moved and entertained by the ongoing battle between the Gorgonites, led by the valiant Archer, and the antagonist Chip Hazard’s Commando Elite.

"Two years from now, it's going to be one of the most badass things you've ever seen in your life"

The role of VFX in modern blockbusters has for a long time gone unnoticed, but since the recent furore at the Oscars it seems more and more people are speaking out about the importance of VFX and henceforth, the artists that create the magic.

Behind the scenes of some seriously iconic movies

I think it’s fair to say, when it comes to films- everyone is a fan of behind the scenes photographs, especially when they’re of some of the most iconic movies of all time, AND they show the making of some of the most well-known scenes ever.

Next Hansel & Gretel promises to be 'Pretty Insane'

If you caught Hansel and Gretel at the cinema a few months ago, you’ll probably remember it for the imaginative violence, tongue in cheek dialogue and an out of place Jeremy Renner.

Fast & Furious 6 – One epic finale sequence!.

The recent release of Fast and Furious 6 sees a refreshing change of setting - to the streets of London, which is fairly apt given that the lasting impression on the audience seems to be the epic VFX scenes, many of which were created right here London at Double Negative.

Watching sport is set to get a hell of a lot better - brace yourselves for bullet time!

Being a sports fan, I have been consistently impressed with improvements in viewer experience over the last few years. Technology has improved the situation of the armchair fan tenfold, making the long trip to their ground of choice at the weekend, increasingly less appealing.
