Escape whips up a whirlwind of activity this week.
MPC comes to Escape
Okay folks, our Academy Tour is almost upon us; on Wednesday 15th May Escape Studios will once again open its doors to all you VFX lovers out there wishing to get ahead of the game in the industry.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Paul Chung that’s who!
Escape Studios had a special treat today as animator Paul Chung kindly agreed to come along and give a talk to our Academy Tour attendees, oh and half the current student population too…
The Visual Effects Academy
So, the time is nearly upon us to open our doors to all you budding VFX artist wannabes to show you what we’re made of!
Escape Academy Tours, an Open Day for Open Minds…
So it’s that time again… time to tempt, entice and hopefully ensnare a fresh batch of enthusiasts to come tame the beast that is VFX, here at Escape Studios. Hosted by recruitment and training team Flora and Nick, today is all about giving our potential Escapees a feel for what life at Escape has to offer, from our accelerated Classroom courses to the oh-so important free tea/coffee and, of course, the after hours bar downstairs!
"Man it's cool, it's the best thing I've written"
Harry Potter fans (there are a few of them out there) will have to readjust their vision come 2014/15, as it has been announced that Daniel Radcliffe is in final negotiations with 20th Century Fox over playing the lead role of Igor, in an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. It is said that production will begin later this year.
Stranger than fiction - 'Doomed: A Biological Cartoon'
Here at Escape, we’re fans of the weird and wonderful in all shapes and forms, and something that’s caught our eye recently, is this rather bizarre nature documentary titled… Doomed: A biological cartoon.
Now THAT'S a portfolio!
Tomorrow, Escape Studios will be hosting another industry visit to the heart of Soho, where our friends over at Cinesite will be showing attendees exactly where the lifeblood of UK VFX is pumped from.
From MPC to Cinesite, Fuel VFX to Weta Digital and everything in between! Escapee Leo Neelands.
Ska loving escapee Leo Neelands made a career change but 7 years ago, when upon the word of a trusty friend who recognised the potential of his artistic skills, he made his way down to London with nothing but a Wacom tablet and pen in his bindle and a bucket load of raw talent in his brain.
Hoth in your front room.
This rather charismatic chap called Barry has made his very own diorama model of the battle sequence on ice planet Hoth, from the Empire Strikes Back.
Christoph Keller - Escape Speaker Feature!
We’ve had Senior Compositor at Double Negative Christoph Keller, speaking at Escape HQ today to a room full of keen VFX fans! Ahead of his visit I asked a few questions that are entirely unrelated to his job, because variety is the spice of life, right?
Toy Story - Remade!
Someone once told me, that life is like a marmalade sandwich; the more you put into it, the more you’ll get out of it.
Total Rigging in Total Recall: Webinar
On 7th of February 2013, Escape HQ will be welcoming Jakub Krompolc, who is head of rigging at London’s Prime Focus world.
The Stunning Effects of Life of Pi
Thanks to the kind people at Rhythm and Hues, who last month gave us some very informative industry info, Ang Lee’s Life of Pi has already made an appearance on the Escape blog. But now we've all seen it, and since it’s received 11 Oscar nominations (not bad eh?) we reckon it’s worth another mention!
London's VFX Artists become Superheroes!
VFX fans and readers of WIRED magazine will have noticed a special feature in this month’s edition, as Soho’s VFX teams are made into super heroes by, well, themselves.
Bored of drawing with pencils?
Bored of drawing with pencils? Try using them for sculptures, as Montana born artist, Jessica Drenk does.
Robin Squires VFX Course Diary: Week 11!
Having started a VFX course here at Escape Studios, I’m keeping a diary to share with you on how the course is going. Here's my update from week 11!
Kicking off 2013 with Head of 3D at Framestore Commercials, Diarmid Harrison Murray.
To see in the New Year in style, we have a number of events planned for January 2013, the jewel in this stone clad crown of a month though, is a live interview with escapee and head of 3D at Framestore Commercials, Diarmid Harrison Murray.
