I have just finished teaching our most intense 12-week games course yet and will soon post some examples of the work done by the students during the course. I am really proud of the work they created.
The Skillset Visual Effects Course is now underway and the work which the guys have produced after just six weeks is incredible!
Congratulations to all the finalists of our CG Whiz competition. We had a great time at the Reveal Event last night, meeting the future stars of the CG industry. As we’ve said before, we were overwhelmed by the sheer number and quality of the entries we’ve received.
Here at Escape Studios, we pride ourselves on our close links with the industry. One of the ways we maintain these links is by having tutors who have done the jobs they teach. This means that our tutors are some of the best CGers in the business, and they’re an incredibly creative bunch.
Not sure how many of you have been following this story, but a whopping 20 feature films have been submitted for the Animated Feature film category for the upcoming Oscars. This is great news for the industry as it means we’re well on track to getting five nominees qualifying for the category at the awards next February (we normally only have 3!).
We’ve got a couple of exciting new online courses coming up for slightly more experienced CGers. The Advanced Lighting and Advanced Shading modules are aimed at people with a bit of Maya knowledge, having completed the Maya Core program.
We are so excited about the launch of our brand new Advanced Shading online course, we decided to give you access to over an hours worth of free tutorials from it. You can sign up and start learning right away; all you need to do is register on our website to access our online learning centre, then follow the instructions.
We're delighted to announce the winner of our competition with Computer Arts Project: Matt Long. We received many applications to this competition, and the overall quality of the entries was very high, but Matt impressed the judges with an original and well-executed character design. He wins a copy of Maya, access to the online Maya Core course, and a 6 weeks intensive Characters Course with us at Escape HQ in London.
I’ve mentioned 3D movies before on the blog, but this week another article on the topic caught my eye. Pixar has said that it’s hoping 3D films will encourage people to watch movies at the cinema – rather than pirate copies or illegal downloads at home.
We’ve got a new set of evening classes at Escape Studios , starting at the end of September. The Compositing Evening Course will allow experienced freelancers and amateur beginners alike to learn all they need to know about compositing in Nuke in twice weekly sessions, helping develop the skills required to becoming a top notch VFX compositor.
