So, to celebrate the launch of our Online Mentored VFX course, we have decided to go mad and give away for free the first week of the course to fifteen lucky people.
Two showreel tips
Those of you who follow us on Twitter will know that we had our first ever realtime Twitter feedback session on Monday. I am told I should refer to them as Tweetups or Twitter parties, but if truth be told, it was a simple, honest, online showreel clinic! We asked our followers to send us links to their reels, and Lee Danskin, our Training Development Director, provided his usual professional feedback.
New mentored courses for long distance learners
Today we’ve launched a brand new set of online mentored learning courses to offer a helping hand to international grads and drive the next wave of computer graphics talent. The twelve-month course offers the same high quality, interactive training experience as our flagship Visual Effects classroom course.
VFX Showreel: Part 2
Last month, we showcased some fantastic work which came off the back of our Visual Effects Course. Seems that everyone really enjoyed it so we thought we'd treat you to another. The quality of work from these guys, especially as it's after just 12 weeks of training, is pretty amazing. Hat's off to them!
Come along to our Open Evening
Lots of people can't make it to our day time courses or open days, so, we've decided to run an Open Evening for those people interested in attending our VFX, Maya and Compositing Evening Courses. The courses are perfect for those with busy working lives because they don't interfere with day to day work and you can also pay for them a module at a time, which makes finding the funds a lot easier.
Feedback competition winners
We’re pleased to announce the winners of our latest Facebook competition. Having submitted their showreels to the Escape Studios Facebook fan page, five people were selected at random.
Fancy winning an iPod or an online 3D course?
Then take a look at Escape Studios’ Graduate Survey. If you’re a student or have graduated from a UK university we’re keen to hear how you got on finding a job, and how well you think your university prepared you for the world of work.
Chance to win online course access and feedback
Following the success of our 500 competition, we’re launching another one exclusively on Facebook. We’ve improved the prize as well – not only will the winner get three months access to an online course of their choice, they’ll also receive a free critique of their work by one of Escape’s tutors, all experts in their fields. Four runners up will also receive critiques of a piece of their work.
Expert training for modo enthusiasts
We have some exciting news for aspiring modo artists wanting to learn modo straight from the experts. Luxology's very own expert trainer, Andy Brown will be delivering an introductory two-day course at Escape Studios in June. This course is ideal for artists who are new to modo and want to learn more about the interface and efficient modelling and shading workflows. You will also discover how to accelerate the production process by utilising time-saving modo features like presets, assemblies and kits.
Free Advanced Level Tutorial - Perfect Your Shading Skills
This month's Free Tutorial is taken from our Advanced Shading with Maya & Mental Ray online course and is one of many videos which explains how to harness the power of Maya's utility nodes to simplify, speed up & add realism to your work. This tutorial is great because you'll use a practical example.
Facebook fan page competition winner
We're delighted to announce that Alida Serrano has won our competition for three months' free access to one of our online courses. Alida, from New Jersey, US, was one of our fans on Facebook, and was selected at random from our followers on Thursday 1st April.
Featured Artist - VFX Graduate Diego Pastor
It's proving to be a very busy month for the recruitment team at Escape Studios. Lots of our students are going straight from our classroom courses into paid work, proving it's an ideal time for Junior Artists to make that break into the post production industry.
Last seats on the Games Course
Just to let you budding games artists know, we've a few seats remaining on our 12 week Games course starting April 6th, so if you are interested in attending you should book your place as soon as possible. We're also offering a one-off chance to attend the first six weeks of the course which is completely Maya focused. It's perfect for anyone wanting to grasp the foundation skills required to become a 3D artist.
