We’re almost at the end! The CG Whiz competition ends at midnight tonight, so if you’re going to enter act now. We’ve had a tremendous response so far, with over 125 entries posted here.

Now this is what we like to see – children getting involved in animation from a young age. This week we heard that Tate is teaming up with Aardman Animations, the team behind Wallace and Gromit, to create a new film.  And,  they want children to help them brainstorm. Towelling for grass, cotton balls for smoke and cling film for water – Wes Anderson has reverted to traditional forms of animation in his new film Fantastic Mr Fox.

We are so excited about the launch of our brand new Advanced Shading online course, we decided to give you access to over an hours worth of free tutorials from it. You can sign up and start learning right away; all you need to do is register on our website to access our online learning centre, then follow the instructions.

We’re halfway through the competition and we’ve already had 49 entries – a great response, but we’re still keen to see what everyone else is working on.

We're delighted to announce the winner of our competition with Computer Arts Project: Matt Long. We received many applications to this competition, and the overall quality of the entries was very high, but Matt impressed the judges with an original and well-executed character design. He wins a copy of Maya, access to the online Maya Core course, and a 6 weeks intensive Characters Course with us at Escape HQ in London.
