There’s just two days until the end of the CG Whiz competition, so if you’re going to enter you’d better post your videos soon! We’ve had 96 entries so far, will yours be joining them? Remember, the deadline is Friday 30th October, and to enter you need to post your entry to this video. Don’t leave it until the last minute, get posting now!
The Tate Movie Project – Tate teaming up with Aardman Animations
Now this is what we like to see – children getting involved in animation from a young age. This week we heard that Tate is teaming up with Aardman Animations, the team behind Wallace and Gromit, to create a new film. And, they want children to help them brainstorm. CG Whiz - deadline approaching
There’s just a week to go until the end of the CG Whiz competition. We’ve had 74 entries so far – is yours one of them? Here’s a couple to give you an idea of what other people are doing:
Old-school animation: Fantastic Mr Fox
Towelling for grass, cotton balls for smoke and cling film for water – Wes Anderson has reverted to traditional forms of animation in his new film Fantastic Mr Fox.
New online courses: VFX Advanced Shading and Lighting
We’ve got a couple of exciting new online courses coming up for slightly more experienced CGers. The Advanced Lighting and Advanced Shading modules are aimed at people with a bit of Maya knowledge, having completed the Maya Core program.

We are so excited about the launch of our brand new Advanced Shading online course, we decided to give you access to over an hours worth of free tutorials from it. You can sign up and start learning right away; all you need to do is register on our website to access our online learning centre, then follow the instructions.

Introducing Matt Long - Computer Arts Project Competition Winner
We're delighted to announce the winner of our competition with Computer Arts Project: Matt Long. We received many applications to this competition, and the overall quality of the entries was very high, but Matt impressed the judges with an original and well-executed character design. He wins a copy of Maya, access to the online Maya Core course, and a 6 weeks intensive Characters Course with us at Escape HQ in London.
