Gaming Gets Emotional With LA Noire

Up until recently, most games have been all about hand eye co-ordination but in LA Noire, which is set in the late 40s, the main skill is about being able to judge body language and characters’ faces to figure out if they’re lying or not - or ‘emotional perception’ as some are calling it.

Stunning Imagery in "Inside the Human Body"

Stunning Imagery in "Inside the Human Body"

Did any of you watch the first episode of a brand new BBC1 series called "Inside the Human Body"? It aired last night for the first time and I watched in total amazement. OK, so most of you who follow my posts will know that I avidly watch any science programs...  I know I am a captive audience, but seriously, the visual effects were absolutely beautiful and the program captivating.

Silent Studios Show Our Students How CG and Digital Media Work Together

Silent Studios Show Our Students How CG and Digital Media Work Together

Silent Studios are by no means a big company. As a team of four, they are a tight knit unit comprising a Creative Director, a Music Director, an Art Director/Designer and a Composer. However, they have certainly made some noise (quite literally) in the world of digital media. The Creative Director, Nathan Prince, came to Escape Studios to talk to our classroom students about digital media and how CG is playing a massive role in what they do every day. Liam described Silent Studios as a design and music partnership that blends moving image, creative direction, graphic design, installation and musical composition. A little bit of everything then.

Billy approached Escape Studios to help him out with some of the visual effects work on the project. I'm not going to give away any of secrets of the project but you'll see it's a great concept and some really interesting techniques were used to create the film's final look.

Changing Workflows Within the Post Pipelines...

I noticed this over at JupiterJazz: AtomKraft Beta2. It's a massive plugin to Nuke enabling a whole host of 3D rendering type workflows. Believe it or not, it puts control of final renders and outputs in the hands of the compers!

Add Realism to Composite Shots with 220 Organic Effects

OK, so Sapphire is not a new product. It has been used by a lot of the top studios like Framestore, MPC and The Mill for some time now. But is it new to our Techstore range, so we thought we’d make a bit of noise about it.
