But who are CandIT Media?

Japanese art student Choo San, blew quite a few minds this week when she uploaded her latest side project to internet forums.

This Wednesday, October 24^th, we’re hosting a webinar with compositing tutor and Head of 2D at Escape Studios, Davi Stein. During her presentation, Davi will guide us through the core processes behind compositing, highlighting exactly what a compositor does, the range of roles available in the industry, and how Compositors are largely responsible for creating the CG magic we see on screen. As well as this, Davi will comment on the effects of some of the most recent changes in the industry to date.

As a design graduate with 7 years’ experience working within design departments in architecture and retail I spent what time I could learning how to model and animate to create short sequences influenced mainly by films I like. Although fun, learning that way means progress is very slow as is the rate of improvement - at least in my case anyway. I wanted to get better quicker and that's why I signed up for the VFX Production course.

Last week saw the UK’s very first VFX Festival, hosted by Escape Studios—a four-day spectacular exploring the breath-taking world of visual effects. Our industry pals and we celebrated the last decade of VFX with a jam-packed schedule of exclusive events, and it was our tutor-led workshops at Escape HQ that seemed to particularly whet the appetites of all those budding VFX artists out there.

Last Thursday for the first time ever, the entire RealFlow team travelled over from Spain to host an exclusive event at the MPC screening rooms to preview RealFlow 2013.

Most people know that Escape Studios is a world class CG Academy as well as a leading supplier of the latest technology and software to the industry. A lesser known fact is that Escape is also a leading Post Production freelancer agency who work with some of the top studios in the world, we understand better than anyone the challenges of resourcing a project. 

Riding on the excitement of the new Bond film, Skyfall, Heineken has a James Bond themed ad, featuring Daniel Craig. The VFX for the ad were done by none other than our good friends at The Mill, and the global TV and digital campaign will be activated across 32 markets and involves the participation of the film's stars, Daniel Craig and the latest Bond girl, Bérénice Marlohe.

You've got to hand it to Vincent Morisset, he's one pretty cool dude. His collaboration with Arcade Fire in the making of an interactive music video for their song, "Neon Bible", has created something completely different from the norm. I've never had so much fun just clicking a mouse! 

In this day and age of huge Sci-fi VFX productions that really don't go anywhere (cough!.. Prometheus...cough! cough!) emotionally we find ourselves longing for some real substance with our entertainment.  Enter Grounded , a film short by Kevin Margo, a VFX vet from Blur Studio, about an Astronauts journey through space and life.  The short was a top award winner at multiple festivals around the planet and in true VFX fashion Kevin and his team created a process short along with the film to show all of those VFX hopefuls out there just how it was done.  Top notch work from a top notch creative, I do hope we see some more from Mr. Margo's mind!
