Love VFX? You'll love this!

Love VFX? You'll love this!

Once upon a time, in a world full of extremely complex effects, there was a place where people thought that only explosions, giant robots, monsters and set replacements could cause their jaws to drop, then a company called Bot & Dolly decided to show to everyone how they could make something compelling and inspiring... just with primitives!

What are your tips and tricks?

What are your tips and tricks?

Hello loyal readers, A P Miles here with sad, sad news. It seems that I've bucked the trend and decided to catch the winter cold rather early, turning my normally deep and soothing voice into a growley, crackly mess, and increasing the pressure in my head to somewhere close to 500 fathoms deep.

A Taste of 3D!

A Taste of 3D!

Often for a VFX artist there is a defining moment of clarity, whether it be during a TV program, an epic film, or just viewing a highly detailed drawing, most of the artists we encounter, when asked “what made you want to become a VFX artist?” Usually one of these occasions is cited as a reply.

Escapees do great work on Something Really Bad

Escapees do great work on Something Really Bad

Here at Escape, we're always trying to help our Escapees get the best jobs in the VFX industry, as part of our ongoing commitment to every student who passes through our doors. Sometimes that means they'll work on feature films, or hit TV shows, or sometimes, as Roberto Fera was lucky enough to find out, it means music videos.

You think this is CG? Think again!

Seeing these stunning images and being surrounded by incredible CG artists here at Escape, I assumed that they were created in a Dynamic Simulation Software such as Houdini.

Orchestra + Animation = Awesome!

Orchestra + Animation = Awesome!

Don’t you just love it when two intricate art forms collide to make something equally as wonderful as each ingredient on its own? We saw this video (above) created by students from the University for the Creative Arts, and not only did we fall in love with the computer generated imagery, but we were impressed by the fact that this animation was synchronised with a live recording of  Milhaud’s 'La Création du Monde'.

World War Z - Next Level VFX!

World War Z - Next Level VFX!

Hi dudes! It's been a while since I've seen a film where the special effects really surprised me. The thing is that these days everything is ordinary: it's absolutely normal to go to the cinema and see giant robots, extreme explosions, blah blah blah.

Pacific Rim, how does it look?

Pacific Rim, the mad Japanese Kaiju style monster movie by Guillermo del Toro sounds like it’s crazy fun and action packed, judging from some early reviews we’ve read this week online.

Congrats to all our Escapees who helped make ‘Man of Steel’ possible

Congrats to all our Escapees who helped make ‘Man of Steel’ possible

By now, we’re guessing, many of you VFX fans out there will have seen Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel. If you haven’t, we’re sure you have a valid excuse. And for those of you who have, you may have noticed the epic credits list for the VFX department in particular. As we respectfully stay at the end of the movie to watch the credits roll, we’re always proud to spot names we recognise among the list – the names of our graduates.
