If you’re in the business of creative careers, then it’s likely you’ll be aware of Creative Skillset, an organisation that aims to plug skills gaps, identify funding needs, and train, develop and nurture people within creative industries.
Here at Escape Studios, we have subscriptions to the most cutting edge Industry publications delivered to our studios each month, and we fist punched the air recently when we saw both an Escape Tutor, AND one of our advisory board members featuring in 3D Artist Magazine and 3D World Magazine respectively.

Acquiring some VFX skills is a natural path for most people who are currently using all the great tools we have today for video/film production and editing. The technology has matured to the point where we (the average single graphics guy or gal) use it almost on a daily basis.
Finding the time to hone ones skills is more often than not more a troublesome task than finding the will to learn. In a busy world it’s never as simple as signing up for a fulltime course and cracking on with it.
While the days are cold, the nights are long, and we’ve seen the back of Christmas and New Year festivities, at one point or another, we all find ourselves daydreaming about the return of the summer sun. The smell of sun cream, the call of the beach, and the excuse to whack on a pair of shades, making ourselves look AT LEAST 20% cooler, is but a dream away at this, the tail end of January.
Good morning internet!
Do you want to find out more about Visual Effects? Want to meet the guys who blow all that stuff up? The people who make Bond a legend? The people who make you believe that VFX isn’t even in the film? To make our last two Open Day's of 2012 go out with a bang, we’re hosting them at our friends' facilities – two of the biggest post houses in operation today, Framestore & Cinesite.
January is fast approaching, and with that brings new year resolutions and ambitions. Looking to the future, you may be keen to find out what you want to do following the end of your studies. Or perhaps you’re keen to change careers or simply enhance the computer graphics skills you already have. With this in mind, it seems there’s no better time to visit our facilities and discover how doing a course at Escape Studios will help you get to where you want to be.
Is your mind a whirling dervish of creativity? Do your ideas formulate out of the blue, and evolve from non-existence to intrinsically detailed visions, in a matter of minutes? Channeling these skills can be an adventure, especially if you enter an industry where the boundaries are seemingly limitless…
We are really pleased to have been invited to partner with The Foundry at the VES Career Fair and Technology Expo this weekend.
Finland native, Miska Janhunen had been working for his family’s visual design firm as a Webmaster for some time, but he harboured a dream of working in VFX. For years he has been trying to find time and flexibility to study CG. “Because of my location and current situation in life, it felt more or less ‘mission impossible’. Then, in the autumn of 2010, I found Escape Studios’ Online Mentored VFX course and all the pieces fell into place.”
Current Escape Studios’ VFX Online Mentored student, Ricardo Viana is approaching the end of his course and looking forward to developing his showreel and meeting with our recruitment team. In addition to his coursework, he has a very busy schedule to maintain, but that has not stopped him from pursuing his dream.
