2013 is set to be a massive year for film, (take a look at our recent blog post to see what cinematic delights we’re yet to sink out teeth into) so why not make it a massive year in film for you too?
The legend that created the lab process of travelling mattes, (that’s blue/green screens to the rest of us) sadly passed away last week, at the grand age of 96.
Our friends over at View Conference Italy, last week unveiled that they will be providing cash prizes for winners of their different awards. The prizes vary from top of the range tablets to a lump sum of 2000 Euros. The categories for application are as follows (complete with direct links)
Those who watched Charlie Brooker’s ‘Black Mirror’, were no doubt transfixed by the futuristic realism of the plots, and the creation of worlds that are uncomfortably similar to our own. You will have no doubt been impressed by the VFX (well, those that you noticed) that created the settings on which the plots to unfolded, and of course a considerable amount of the action!
The office here at Escape is usually bustling with an array of different musical sounds, and it’s rare we fully agree on what radio station to keep on for more than an hour and a half.
Recruiters in any company will be sent hundreds of applications on a weekly basis, and when it comes to getting your application noticed, just try putting yourself in their shoes for a moment. Followers of the Escape Blog may remember that last week, we wrote about a few up and coming films due to hit the screen in early 2013. One that caught our eye in particular, was the Tommy Wirkola directed adaptation of the brothers Grimm fairy tale ‘Hansel & Gretel’.
We were quite pleased this week then, as you’d imagine, when another trailer for the movie, (that, by the way, is aptly titled 'Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters') was released as part of a final promotion push by Paramount, before the film’s belated release on the 25th of January.
The film stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, and picks up the plot 15 years after the gingerbread house-kidnap trauma, when Hansel and Gretel are fully fledged bounty hunters. Prepare yourself for an array of outrageous weapons, some serious explosions and all enhanced of course by some state of the art 3D!
Happy New Year folks, hope you all got the things you wanted for Christmas. I certainly did; that pony was a long time coming. Let's kick off the new year with another one of my trademark spotlight blogs, focusing on Battlestar Galactica; Blood and Chrome. (Shout out to user DHW who posted about this after my last blog)
It goes without saying that film fans everywhere are looking forward to the release of a vast number of motion pictures in the upcoming year. Over the course of 2012, how many times have we heard the line “I can’t wait for this film to hit cinemas next year!”?
