At the end of this month (29th September to be exact), starts Escape’s very first dedicated Motion Graphics course – a 12 week (part time) evening course for creative folk who want to take their digital designs to new heights. And with an internship at CAKE up for grabs, this course is launching its graduates into the industry, firing on all cylinders!
"Filmed on location within Tavares Bastos favela, Santa Teresa and The Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The BBC World Cup 2014 titles visual effects were created by GeeFX Studios. The entire piece was done at 6k resolution, filmed with a Red Epic Dragon. Although only broadcast by the BBC in HD, you can view a 4K version on the RED youtube channel above. In conjunction with The Sex Pixels, Unlimited VFX Limited brought to life the statue of Brazil’s 1958 world cup winning captain, Hilderaldo Luiz Bellini, The Macarana stadium entrance and Brazillian sky were also augmented for dramatic effect.
Last week Ash Miles and myself spent a fantastic three days filled with education and inspiration at Reasons to be Creative in Brighton. This is a conference that brings together some of the most talented designers, coders, filmmakers, animators, installation builders, illustrators, and artists who offer a little window of insight into their work and careers.

You may have read that our main man Ash Miles was invited to the private cast and crew screening of Guardians of the Galaxy last weekend, and went along with a number of Escape graduates from MPC who worked on the project. We were left, well, marvelling at the recent sketch of the new Thor that was released online yesterday, as it was unveiled that our new hero will be of female persuasion!

It’s been an exciting time for students here at Escape. Over the last year we’ve been approached by a number of productions seeking VFX talent. “Through the Breaking Glass” is one such project, officially selected for the 20th Palm Springs International ShortFest.
Escape’s Head of 3D Mark Spevick harbours a special passion for all things Houdini, and last week his skills were called for on the continent, and he ventured to iMasterArt in Turin taly to host a master class with a handful of other pros with experience in all areas of VFX, here are his notes from the trip!
We are very pleased to announce that we have joined forces with HaZ Films as VFX Partner on his latest Sci-Fi Short film: SYNC. HaZ is a VFX Supervisor turned Filmmaker while also one of our tutors on the Producing for VFX course, (which is soon to start its third term)
