We’ve highlighted the exploits of our summer apprentices and have yet another story to tell.
We recently caught up with Derrick Sesson from Brand New School. We asked Derrick to share with us his expectations of the summer apprenticeship program and how it’s worked with his current schedule. Here’s what he shared with us:
“I came into the program hoping to become a better lighting artist, and composite my lighting shots into live action plates. I also wanted to learn NUKE and how to track scenes.
It hasn't been too hard managing work and the projects. There have been days where I could easily manage both, and there were days when I was really swamped. But all in all, it's been pretty smooth.
So far I've had sort of a generalist role. During the apprenticeship I've modeled, UV’d, textured, shaded, lit, and rigged. Soon we’ll be tracking and compositing. It has been very nice getting direct teaching, as I'm a self-taught artist.”
