As you know we have spent the past month judging the 170-odd entries we received for this year’s CG Whiz awards. I have to say the standard of entries was incredibly high, and our judges had an extra-tough job singling out those who showed the sheer talent and potential they were looking for.
But the judging is now done, the wait is over, and it's time to announce this year's winner. Drum roll, please, as we announce that the Escape Studios CG Whiz 2010 winner is Stu Schwartz, based in Georgia, in the US. His showreel included some great visual effects work which showed real attention to detail in lighting and movement.
Stu wins a three-month intensive VFX course at our soon-to-open Los Angeles academy, followed by a one-month placement at The Mill as well as a one-year subscription to CG Society.
Second place goes to Justyna Galka from Poland, for the creativity she demonstrated in her reel, while Natalie Rocks, from the UK, wins third place for her charming character animation. Both win a selection of our online and mentored courses.
The following ten runners up will get subscriptions to 3D Artist magazine:
So many thanks to all of you who sent in your showreels and gave our judges such a tough job. And finally, special thanks to our sponsors: The Mill, 3D Artist and CG Society – we couldn’t have done it without you!
