An Evening with The Mill's John Leonti

A Look at the Fast-paced World of VFX in Advertising
Are you curious about what it’s like to work in visual effects for the advertising industry? Would you like to know more about the skills required to work in this exciting, fast-paced part of the VFX world? Spend an evening at Escape Studios on Thursday, March 15, 2012 with The Mill’s John Leonti as he discusses the commercials VFX pipeline. Check out the behind-the-scenes work for the VES award-nominated spot “Immersion” for Mattel’s Hot Wheels, and the backstory behind Playstation’s cult-phenomena “Michael”. 

John will reveal all, including how you can be in the hot seat, working on high profile commercials such as these. Bring your appetite for knowledge, and plenty of questions.

About John Leonti

John Leonti is the Head of 3D at The Mill L.A. Based in Culver City’s Blackwelder Arts District, The Mill is an Academy Award-winning VFX studio and a top player in the advertising industry. John has a hand in many projects at The Mill, including spots for brands such as PlayStation, Gatorade, Old Spice, Adidas and Lexus, among many others.

John began his career in 1998 at The Moving Picture Company in London where he served for almost 10 years in a variety of visual effects and 3D roles. During his time at MPC, Leonti gained significant experience working on television commercials, as well as long form TV with the BBC.

He also worked in the film department as a 3D supervisor on films such as Casino Royale, Amazing Grace and The Other Boleyn Girl. Following MPC, John joined The Mill L.A. in February 2007, as head of 3D, growing the 3D department from 4 to 18 people in three years. Leonti studied illustration and graphic design at Kingston University.
