Escapee Alessio Bertotti answers some questions on VFX and tells us about his time at Pixomondo Hamburg.
NAME: Alessio Bertotti
FAVOURITE MOVIE ONE LINER: "I'll be back", need I remind you what film that line is from?
PROJECTS: My role at Pixomondo is 'Compositor and 3D Generalist'. My favourite project so far has been working on a Mercedes-Benz commercial, because I covered different roles and we had a tight deadline, so it was really exciting and challenging at the same time. The cool thing was that I supervised the entire project, but simultaneously I was the Comp and 3D Artist – so I did a huge amount of learning!
WHY VFX: I always loved movies, cartoons and computers - way more than books. So from a young age I was spending long hours at my computer, from here I started really early getting into simple photo and video editing. I went on to study Graphic Design at University, where I discovered a passion for 3D and all aspects of manipulating images, and of course - creating beautiful effects and animations, skills which I honed further at Escape.
ADVICE: If you want to embark on a career in VFX, you must be really passionate about all things visual, you have to enjoy taking on difficult challenges and of course you must feel at home in front of your computer, as a VFX artist, your workspace is your dojo!
