Music lovers across the UK can rejoice as we welcome back live sessions with Abbey Road Studios: In Session with Volkswagen Beetle.
Celebrating the best of live music; Abbey Road Studios: In Session with Volkswagen Beetle has pulled in some of the biggest and brightest musicians including the legendary Paul Weller, The Vaccines, The Maccabees, Mercury Prize winning rock quartet Django Django and the home-grown rising star, Jake Bugg.
The series is filmed by the same team who made the Channel 4 series Live From Abbey Road, led by producer Michael Gleason. Editing the series is a monumental task taken on by the team over at My Little Eye who are currently providing all of the DIT and post-production on the 8-part Channel 4 series. After working on a multitude of Abbey Road sessions, Jonathan Walton and the My Little Eye team were looking to move away from their previous set-up and pipeline of Apple Mac Pros and Final Cut Pro.
With a little help from Adobe, HP, NVIDIA and Escape Studios Technology this has all become possible by teaming together Adobe Premiere with three HP Z820s, one HP Z1 and NVIDIA Quadro 6000s.
The My Little Eye team seem pretty happy with their new set-up, using the HP Z1 as a back-up editing workstation and a portable DIT station for onset transfer rushes and to preview shots to director Matthew Amos. With the current arrangement the My Little Eye team are able to run 5 streams of multicam HD camera originals on the Z1 which is pretty remarkable.
We’ll keep you up-to-date with their progress and we can hardly wait for the next episode. Tune in to Channel 4 to see the new episodes or catch up on 4OD and to keep up to date with My Little Eye’s progress on the series by checking out their blog.
